چکیده

To study the effects of time of day on neuroendocrine and metabolic responses to exercise, body temperature, plasma glucose, insulin secretion rates (ISR), and plasma cortisol, growth hormone (GH) and thyrotropin (TSH) were measured in young men, both at bed rest and during a 3-h exercise period (40-60% maximal O2uptake). Exercise was performed at three times of day characterized by marked differences in cortisol levels, i.e., early morning ( n = 5), afternoon ( n = 8), and around midnight ( n = 9). The subjects were kept awake and fasted, but they received a constant glucose infusion to avoid hypoglycemia. Exercise-induced elevations of temperature were higher in the early morning than at other times of day. The exercise-induced glucose decrease was ∼50% greater around midnight, when cortisol was minimal and not stimulated by exercise, than in the afternoon or early morning ( P < 0.05). This effect of time of day appeared unrelated to decreases in ISR or increases in temperature and GH. Robust TSH increases occurred in all exercise periods and were maximal at night. The results demonstrate the existence of circadian variations in neuroendocrine and metabolic responses to exercise.

THE EFFECTS OF AEROBIC, RESISTANCE, AND COMBINED EXERCISE ON C1Q/TNF-RELATED PROTEIN-5 (CTRP-5) LEVELS AND GLYCEMIC PARAMETERS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

Background: It has been shown that C1q TNF-related protein 5 (CTRP5) is a novel adipokine and important molecule related to metabolism regulation. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of different training protocols on improving serum levels of CTRP5, fasting blood glucose, insulin, Insulin resistance in patients with T2DM. Methods: Sixty men with T2DM (mean age [X̅±SD]=51.45±4.26 years)...

Effect of Time of Aerobic Exercise in the Light-dark Cycle on Glycemic Control, SIRT1 Protein Expression, and NAD+/NADH Ratio in Skeletal Muscle of Type 2 Diabetes Model Mice

Introduction: Mitochondrial function is regulated by the dark-light cycle under physiological and pathological conditions. Time-dependent exercise interventions may affect metabolic health in diabetic patients by regulating hyperglycemia. However, limited data are available about the correlation between the time of exercise and the regulation of muscle circadian rhythm in diabetes conditions. T...

Effects of Sucrose Consumption after High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the Plasma Levels of Irisin, Insulin, and Glucose in Overweight and Obese Women

Introduction: Irisin is secreted in response to exercise training, with strong metabolic effects on the muscle and fat tissue. On the other hand, consumption of sugary drinks is one of the main causes of overweight and insulin resistance, which seems to disrupt the secretion of irisin. This study aimed to investigate the effect of sucrose consumption following a high-intensity interval training...

Effects of a single session of concurrent exercise on leptin levels and insulin resistance index in sedentary males

ABSTRACT Physical activity is known to influence and regulate leptin hormone secretion, which assists in the regulation of body weight and energy homeostasis. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of a single session of concurrent exercise on leptin levels and insulin resistance, until 24 h post-exercise. Ten male subjects (22.9±1.7 years) healthy volunteer perf...
